The Coming

Was it on the plain near Haran

that he was first impressed to build?

The gnawing of his soul, the voice so quiet and still.

Polluted land around him cried out for God to hear,

thousands of voices from the sand were frozen sounds of fear.

Life and death so “normal” then, the crops would grow or fail,

the business men with merchant ships still charted times to sail.

But Noah, godly Noah, his colossal ship dry-dock.

What confidence within his soul while all the world would mock.

Coming, yes, it's coming, just look to eastern sky,

a little cloud is rising, the thunder sounds on high.

The eastern kings were awe-inspired,

their eyes toward heaven gazed;

the darkness of the midnight, enhanced the starry maze.

"Look there," one breathed, "the King has come"

and in their deepest part,

urgency brought majestic search,

with treasures from their heart.

Coming, yes, The King is born, just look toward Bethlehem,

The Savior is born to those of faith...give gracious gifts to Him.

"Gabriel, tell the shepherds to leave their flocks and herds,

bring a host of angels with you, make sure they hear your words!

My little Lamb is fast asleep on a manger filled with hay,

they understand that kind of speech, go tell them now -- today!"

Coming, yes, the Shepherd's come, go to the stable bare,

The Leader of the Flock of God, is quietly lying there.

The aging Simeon was drawn by Spirit

to the temple steps,

he found The Child, and with grateful praise

revealed the secret kept;

Anna came and gave her thanks, likewise unto the LORD,

Christ was the fulfillment of God’s Word

to see Him, was their reward.

Coming, yes, Rejoice with those, who saw Messiah come,

the little Baby in their arms, was Jesus, God’s Own Son!

When nailed upon His cruel cross, Messiah was fully revealed,

the completeness of Redemption’s Plan,

God finally to man unsealed.

They laid Christ’s Body in a tomb, the soldiers guard the dead,

but angels rolled that stone away - “the third day”

as Scriptures said!

Christ rose again, His Body now

transformed and glorified;

Christ is The Conqueror over death,

Resurrection Hope alive!

Coming, yes, the Savior came, He paid the price for sin;

the suffering Savior paid the price...and then, He rose again!

The New Covenant of Jesus’ blood,

fulfilled God’s Law - it had replaced;

Two thousand years have gone since then;

two thousand years of grace!

The Body of the Church is gleaned

from every tribe and tongue...

to be the glorious Bride of Christ,

with Praise to Him alone!

Coming, yes, our Lord will come,

whether morning, night, or noon,

We do not know the day or hour,

but we know it could be soon!

In the “budding of the fig tree,” as Christ has clearly said,

“Our Redemption now is drawing near,”

It’s time to “lift our heads!”

The world plays on and merchants sell as in the days of old -

the marriages, the great displays, the houses bought and sold.

Jesus Christ is close at hand, His coming ever near,

provokes the righteous soul to hear with sensing, listening ears.

Coming, yes, He will come again for all His chosen ones,

will we be ready for Him -- His daughters and His sons?

The Spirit from the Living God within our soul does cry,

the Coming of the King of kings is ever drawing nigh!

If days are dark and nations war, if earthquakes are at hand,

If famine, drought and prophets false, walk all across our land.

If the sky grows black as hordes from hell released to slay at will

Gather 'round to watch the final scenes as bowls of wrath are filled.

Coming, yes, He'll come again, the clouds His Glory share,

we, in twinkling of the eye, will meet Him in the air!
