“My Hope” – My Three Minute Testimony

My Spiritual Journey


Billy Graham, in his last message to America, is initiating an evangelistic outreach, called “My Hope for America”, culminating on his 95th birthday, November 7, 2013.  The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) has developed excellent resources, which give Believers the opportunity to clearly present the claims of the Gospel of Christ

to family, friends, and co-workers. 


This is designed to supplement BGEA’s effective material.

Please prayerfully think through and thoughtfully write down the steps God has used in your life to bring you to Himself, so you can share the Truth of the Gospel graciously and succinctly with others.


1. Before: What was my life like before I had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ? [1 min.+/-]

How did the Holy Spirit work in any of these life events help me see my own need and draw me to accept Christ as my Savior?


2. Salvation: Was there a specific event that prompted me to accept Christ as my Savior?  What, when and where? (When did I personally, “Plant my flag” for Christ?)  [1 minute, +/-]


Have you been baptized?  Why, when and where? 

Baptism is often a defining moment in a person’s life and it will give an understanding about an individual’s Spiritual Journey.



3. Now:  How has my life changed, since I have invited Christ to come into my life to cleanse me from my sins by His Precious Blood and to become Lord of my life?  [1 minute, +/-]


Questions You may wish to ask Others,

when Sharing your Faith:


1. “What is your spiritual journey?”

(Or… “Since I have told you about my spiritual journey, could you tell me about your spiritual journey?”


2. “If you were to die tonight and stand before God and God were to say to you, ‘Why should I let you into my heaven?’ what reason would you give Him?”

(This question will reveal what a person is counting on to get them into heaven.  What is the only Biblically correct answer?)


3. How can a Holy God allow me, a sinful person, into His Holy Presence, to live with Him forever, and God still be holy?


4.  “Why did Jesus Christ die?”  (Was Jesus just a good man?  What is the only reason why Jesus died?  Explain the need of “His sinless life for my life”, so my sin can be unconditionally forgiven before a Holy God.)


5.  “Would you like to ask Christ to come into your life, forgive your sins, and give you assurance of Eternal Life?” (See the potential prayers below, or pray the A, B, C’s)



A B C’s of the Gospel


All have sinned against God. (I admit that I have sinned against God’s Laws!) – Romans 3:23; 5:8; 6:23


Believe (accept) the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ’s blood atonement before a Holy God for forgiveness for your sins – Acts 16:30-31; John 3:16-18, 36


Confess Jesus Christ as your Savior & Lord – Rom. 10:9-10, 13


A Prayer for the Sincere Seeker of Salvation (A, B, C’s)

(“Here is a good prayer to honestly pray to God”):


“Dear God, I know You Created me and that I have sinned against You.  I have broken Your Laws.  I admit that I am a sinner, and I repent and turn from my sins. 

I believe Jesus died for me, was buried and rose again the third day.  I accept the Blood Jesus Christ shed on the cross, to wash me from the guilt of my sins before God, and I invite His Holy Spirit to come into my life and change me. 

I confess Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord, and put my trust in Him for my eternal life!  I surrender my life to You!  Thank you for giving me Your Salvation!  In Jesus Name, Amen.”


A Prayer for the Honest Skeptic

(“You are not sure God exists? Here is an honest prayer to pray:”)


“Dear God,

If You are there, and if Jesus Christ is Your Son, and if He died for me to cleanse me from my sins, I will believe in Him, if You reveal Yourself to me.”

You May Also Consider asking someone to help you in your outreach:  Join with another person or couple, who know the Lord, so you become a team to pray and plan inviting others into your home or to their home, to view “Defining Moments” (or the Billy Graham Gospel presentation on Nov. 7th), after which one (or more?) can share their testimony.
