There are at least Three Critical Domains of Marriage in which all marriages find themselves:
Peace
Power
Perversion
Peace
The Foundational Elements of a Peaceful, Happy and United Marriage
•Love
•Authority
•Faithfulness
•Submission
= Unity
God’s Goal for marriage is Unity – Oneness.
A marriage cannot have true Unity and Oneness without Peace.
Woman was created from Adam’s side
Genesis 2:18
18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
Structural DNA is taken from Adam’s side symbolically and genetically.
Genesis 2:18–25
Ephesians 5:21-33
Profound Spiritual Mystery of Christ and the Church
Ephesians 5:32 32 This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church.
John 17:20–26 – Oneness as seen in the Father and Son
20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me….
Oneness brings Fellowship and the Blessing of Children
Ecclesiastes 4:9–12 9Two are better than one…
Psalm 127:3–5 Children are a heritage from the Lord…
Power
The coveted position, without acknowledgement of God’s designated authority.
When a marriage union is based on power, there seems to be a continual grasping for the place of authority. Love is conditional on the release of power. Faithfulness is relative – expected at certain times, but conditional on base desire. Submission is reluctantly granted, as long as everyone knows who is still in charge.
Potential problems of a “Power” based marriage
Ephesians 5:1-20
•Immorality
•Impurity
•Selfishness/greed
•Verbal Abuse/Obscenity/Destructive Speech
Perversion:
The Absence of Light; Glorifying Perversion
• An attack against fidelity in marriage – the breaking down of faithfulness.
• An attack against responsibilities in marriage – the breaking down of God-given roles.
• An attack against traditional mores in marriage – the breaking down of God-given moral values of one man and one woman.
o The consuming spirit of hedonism
o The proliferation of STDs throughout society
o The neutralization and destabilization of the family structure and retrogression of future generations, perversion without procreation.
